Rice Partners Pvt. Ltd. (RPL) and Netzero-Ag organized a focused farmer seminar in District Narowal to promote Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) standards and climate-smart agriculture. More than 250 local farmers participated in the training program, reflecting strong community engagement. The seminar aimed to equip local rice farmers with practical knowledge to boost productivity, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and meet global sustainability standards. The event saw strong participation from progressive farmers, reflecting their growing interest in sustainable practices. Mr. Mudassar Ahmed, Senior Program Officer RPL/Netzero-Ag, highlighted the company’s pioneering efforts in introducing SRP standards and carbon farming in Pakistan, having trained over 38,000 farmers. He emphasized that these practices are helping farmers increase yields while reducing GHG emissions from rice cultivation. Dr. Tahir Awan, Principal Scientist at the Rice Research Institute Kala Shah Kaku, delivered a technical session on seasonal crop management, focusing on certified seeds, timely sowing, balanced fertilization, and crop health. A representative from Fauji Fertilizer Company’s Agri Services Department, provided guidance on fertilizer use based on soil health and nutrient needs for cost-effective results. A technical expert from Syngenta, addressed the issue of banned pesticides and shared updated spray protocols aligned with international MRL standards to ensure food safety and export quality. The seminar reaffirmed RPL & Netzero-Ag commitment to empowering farmers through innovation, training, and sustainable agriculture.
