About Us
NetZeroAg began with an observation most people walk right past: rice produces more greenhouse gas emissions than the entire aviation sector — and almost nobody talks about it.
Beneath flooded paddies across South and Southeast Asia, microbes break down organic matter in oxygen-starved soil, releasing methane at massive scale. The farmers growing this rice — over 140 million families — had no idea. No tools to change it. No reason to.
The founders saw something most others missed: the problem and the solution lived in the same place.
With the right support, smallholder farmers could change how they grow rice. Those changes — measured rigorously, verified independently — could become real climate assets. And the income generated could flow directly back to the farmers who made it happen.
The model was simple in theory. Brutally difficult in execution.

Watch our founder share the vision behind NetZeroAg
It required deep, on-the-ground field operations. Cutting-edge measurement science. Years of trust-building with farming communities across South Asia. And a determination to build an MRV system from scratch — one that could prove, at the field level, exactly how much methane each farm was reducing.
We didn't follow a model. We built one.
Today, we work with over 40,000 farming families. We've issued the world's first Gold Standard-certified carbon credits from rice. We've deployed direct field-level emissions measurement at commercial scale. And we've secured government-level backing for Article 6-aligned carbon trading in Pakistan.
