Promoting Decent Working Conditions and Protecting Children in the Rice Supply Chain

Decent working conditions and the protection of farm laborers’ rights are essential to strengthening the rice value and supply chain. In many rice-growing areas, children are exposed to harsh weather conditions while their parents work long hours in the fields. Recognizing the importance of child rights, safety, and education, Rice Partners Ltd. (RPL), in collaboration with Mars Food and Netzero-Ag, established community mother centers to support the children of rice transplanter families. These centers operated for 40 days across Sheikhupura and its surrounding areas, providing a safe, nurturing environment for children from 21 June to 10 August 2022. This initiative reflects a strong commitment to social responsibility and the well-being of farming communities.
